ABOUT SOC

“This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.” – I Corinthians 4:1 ESV

SOC stands for Servants of Christ. Our goal is to serve God and share God to anyone who’ll listen and let them know what He’s done for us. We’re all about reaching out to students and allowing them a means of experiencing college in a Christian atmosphere. SOC is a place to grow in your faith while surrounding yourself with people who want to see you get to Heaven.

SOC is a place to grow!

Is your strength speaking to others? We have a place for you. Is your strength cooking meals for the sick? We have a place for you. If your strength is yard work, we have a place for you! There is no limit to what you can do for the Lord. Maybe you feel uncomfortable talking to others about Christ. We can help! There are so many opportunities SOC can offer you to grow spiritually.

Check out our Activities page to see what all SOC does and see where you’d like to start your faith building journey while you’re here at Tennessee Tech.

HISTORY

In 2007, a need for a college age group was noticed at Sycamore Church of Christ. With the oversight of the elders and deacons, Servants of Christ was born. After a short time, it became apparent there was a need for a campus minister. In the Fall of 2008, Justin Burleson was hired. Student interns were also added to aid in Bible studies, devotionals, and mission trips.

By spring of 2010, SOC was again without a campus minister. In May 2010, Scott Jefcoat was hired to be the new campus minister of SOC. With the knowledge that there was a lot of work to be done, Scott took the time to get to know every student and became part of the family. With improved organization and a fresh jump start, SOC has continued to grow in attendance, companionship, and faith.
